Finally a new blog post!
It has been a busy couple of weeks/month for me with a nice bunch of freelance work..But without further redo..
Some tips you wont hear that often.
1. Be happy about yourself.
You can work forever just to make that one painting look perfect. This might restrict you from doing more work and might prevent you from doing more work for your clients. Make it look good and if there is time left, make it perfect. Okay that one is kind off common but now the fun starts.
2. Don't try and hit on a girl or guy via chat or something while you have tight deadlines.
Just don't, it takes up enormous amounts of time and concentration. So for all you single sexy artists, just wait until your deadline is finished.
3. Stay in shape, physical and psychological.
First off its always good for you to be in top condition so you can preform way better. But this also helps in a lot of other aspects, for one it helps you sleep better. Feeling good about yourself improves your self confidence and that will also show in your work. Another good reason is self reference photo's, if your better in shape odds are that you're body type is better suited as reference.
4. Find another creative form of self expression.
Pick up an instrument or try writing a short story. It helped me stay in touch with my "creative" self and offered me new ways to explore creativity. This will also help you set your mind of issue's you might have with your artwork at the moment.
5. Make artist friends, join communities.
Hooking up with other artists is a great way to learn and to become better, also most of them are great people and i wouldn't have made it this far without them.
6. Motivate others, this way you will keep yourself motivated.
7. The whole working out of your comfort zone works.
Most of you are familiar with the concept that living at the edge of your comfort zone real life starts. It works, at least for me. Its hard and you will get a lot of blockades but its worth it.
8. Give back to the community.
Do livestreams, hangouts, overpaintings or just give great comments. Help out other artists and be a nice person overall, people tend to help you out more and it will attract more audience. Some artist even go as far as doing a daily tip and trick thing.
9. Make your own list.
While making this list over the last couple of weeks i found out that its best to make your own set of rules to live by then taking for granted the lists of others, yeah yeah paradox..
I hope it helps, i don't expect this to be a revelation for anyone but this is my list.
Enjoy
